About

Fashion is more than what we wear. It is in our homes, attitudes, knowledge and experiences. Find tips on notjustalovelyface.blogspot.com for being a well-rounded fashionista.

True fashion requires so much more of a person than just a lovely face.  A fashionable woman is smart, savvy, stylish and up-to-date.  She is not afraid of who she is and expresses her personality through a combination of attitudes, environments and personal belongings.

Living in NYC, I am surrounded by fashion.  My idea of what fashion is has changed drastically since my original acceptance into the Fashion Institute of Technology many years back already.  I used to think of fashion in the following way: Fashion is what we wear that defines us and allows us to express ourselves.  Today I see it as so much more.  Fashion is literally in every aspect of our lives.  Fashion includes the furniture we sit on, the cars we drive, even the packaging for the products we are drawn to.

Fashions, styles, trends and fads change and evolve constantly.  Being "fashionable", I believe means to be current in your understanding and expression of your personality through means of available trends.  The understanding of evolutionary changes in fashion can even be the element that defines a person's style.  Do you know anyone that dresses or decorates like they are from the 1950's or 60's all the time?  Their style is defined by and recognized because of this changing evolution.

In New York I get a chance to experience fashion in a unique way all the time.  Fashion trends arrive here quickly, and die here quickly.  My day job, as a wholesale costume jewelry designer for major chain stores, allows me to experience yet another side of fashion: the Fashion industry.

Another fantastic side of NYC fashion is right at home.  Apartment living is perhaps the most challenging aspect of New York Life.  With tiny spaces at unimaginable prices, people have to get very VERY creative in order to make their spaces livable.  In necessary response to this apartment decor dilemma we have been granted Ikea, West Elm, Pier One Imports, The Container store, and much more.  All of these places focus on making spaces livable on a budget and in fashion.

These experiences have inspired me to create "Not Just A Lovely Face" so that I can offer a unique glimpse of fashion from my point of view.  "Not Just A Lovely Face" is a guide to current fashion trends in all aspects.  Clothing, accessories home decor, and more.  This site offers ideas for the "fashionable", up-to-date woman.  Fashion is so much more than just a lovely face...
